Introduction The purpose of this site is to help junior high students in elementary algebra learn to identify linear equations and manipulate these equations by converting them from one form to another. By working through each of the lesson pages, students will learn each of the three linear forms; Point Slope Form, Slope Intercept Form and Standard Form. They will also learn how to discover the slope of a line and identify the x and y intercepts.
Students will complete each of the five lessons in the school computer lab or at home. Students will have two weeks from the time the lessons are assigned to complete them, take notes , finish each assignment, and complete the quiz at the end of each lesson.
The pages are meant to be viewed in the order found on the menu bar at the left or at the bottom of each page. Each lesson page includes an introductory video, a PowerPoint presentation, an assignment, and quiz to be completed. Students will need to read the instructional guide at the beginning of each lesson. View the following instructional guide so you know what to look for on each lesson.
Media The videos can be opened using Windows Media Player or Real Player. The following is a link to download Real Player. http://www.real.com/freeplayer/?rppr=rnwk
If you don't have PowerPoint on your computer you can view the presentations in PDF format using acrobat reader. Use the following link to get the latest version. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Notes
Each assignment will count for both taking notes and the assignment. They are the same.
Assignments
At the end of each lesson there will be an assignment that will need to be completed and turned in to Mr. Clarke in class or by email. Students will receive a reply email with a grade and evaluation of work. If a student does not have access to email at home a printed copy of the assignment and work may be handed in for grading.
Quizzes
Each lesson contains a a short five question quiz that covers the main points of learning each student should know after completing the lesson.
